MAYOR RAHM EMANUEL, UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS, CHICAGO IDEAS WEEK, AND WORLD BUSINESS CHICAGO TO HOST THE 3RD ANNUAL THINKCHICAGO PROGRAM

Mayor Rahm Emanuel, University of Illinois, Chicago Ideas Week, and World Business Chicago officially kicked off the 3rd annual ThinkChicago program this week, October 17-19, 2013. The program connects the brightest tech students from Midwestern universities with Chicago innovators by introducing 150 elite students to the leaders of Chicago’s most innovative companies. The program also allows students to explore Chicago’s flourishing tech scene, and gives them the opportunity to attend select programming at Chicago Ideas Week, where some of the world’s brightest thinkers and leaders inspire and enlighten. read more

MAYOR RAHM EMANUEL ON U.S. SENATE PANEL APPROVAL OF THE MIKULSKI-KIRK POLAND VISA WAIVER

As Mayor of Chicago, the city with the world’s largest Polish population outside of Warsaw, I applaud the approval of this measure to modernize our Visa-waiver program, legislation that I signed and supported while in Congress. Chicago is home to a proud, vibrant Polish community and allowing freer travel will contribute to our economy and both strengthen the historic bonds between Chicago and Poland as well as those between family and friends who have waited for the ability to visit one another, and will now be able to do so. The Polish community is a first-class friend to Chicago and deserves to be treated as first class citizens. read more
